Reprise de Radiohead : 21 août 1992

La chanson est une reprise d’un tube de Glenn Campbell qui date de 1975.

Enregistrant un peu par hasard en 1967 son premier titre aux consonances folk, il connu le succès presque tout de suite, et enchaîna les titres et les tubes par la suite..

Ed est apparemment (ou était) fan de Glen…

La reprise de Radiohead a été jouée au moins 4 fois, au tout début du groupe dont le 21 août 1992, lors d’une black session à Paris le 23 février 1993, le 2 avril à 1993 à Tel Aviv et une seconde fois sur France Inter le 20 juin 1993 pour clôturer un concert.

Le 30 mars 1993, Thom blague à la radio israélienne et fait comme si il allait reprendre la chanson pour la première fois…et que ça allait être une exclusivité pour Israël (il a déjà joué deux fois la chanson auparavant !)

Quelques jours plus tard, Thom justifie le choix de la reprise. IL fallait calmer le public, et il n’avait pas envie de reprendre les Manic Street Preachers.
